no longer an exclusively vicarious one.

costume change!

so... i saw munich and it was fairly good. lots of eric bana looking heaps amazing with funny hairdos and amazing!shirts. after watching him in stuff like the castle and chopper and full frontal, i think a lot of it is because he just looks so much better in real life, compared to all those old characters.

happy chinese new year everyone, by the way. its all good and i got a nice pile of moneys so mels is quite happy. beginning to wear-in all my new articl-es of clothing, so mels is beginning to look a little different. also sposed to be getting new glasses sometime before uni starts so i shall do the whole image-revamp thing before i start what dad keeps referring to as the 'next stage of my life'. gods. the man wont stop...
but i luffs him, and not only cos he bought a new washing machine (that doubles as a dryer! guh), and keeps suggesting he will by me a laptop for uni works. teehee. mels is quickly becoming a spoilt brat at this late stage of her life.

also. tennis is boring and ive figured out why. when im not the one playing, i tend to overanalsye stuffs, and every move that everyone makes. thus, the boring. but the cricket is still super awesome, and i must watch more and more to make up for all the aussie aussie aussie moments i missed when tripping.

and finally i begin to understand some of the ads. i think there were a few ads overseas that i simply didnt get cos they were too pop-culture-y. such as this:

which was everywherein italy, and nobody understood what the hell it was all about. (it says "pre-na-tal" and the chicks in the princess leia get-up on the left are vanquishing the bedsheet-covered characters on the right with their super-torches). also, the cars are all tiny over there. smart cars galore! and vespas and cheap scooters and one-person cars... and in oxford it was all bicycles.
but yeah.

ps. now i am official uni student. i got my unicard done todays at the great hall, and in true shabby style, the laminating machine was a little bit stuffed, so my card is already beginning to fall apart. im so proud...

'try not to screw THIS show up'

so yeah. because oztv sucks this much, having to deal with just reading transcripts of stargates. beginning more and more to feel anita's pain. apparently, there was some kind of 'behind the scenes' sci-friday special earlier this year. of which i am muchly jealous, so just excuse me while i cry.
i miss ben and claud...

anyways. how weird is this guy:
Michael Shanks
Dr. Daniel Jackson

Q: How has it been for you this season working with Ben Browder and Beau Bridges? Do you enjoy this new change?
Shanks: I've found it the most difficult to continue to use my "B" sounds. I have water on the set all the time! Saying "Ben Browder" and "Beau Bridges" consistently throughout the day can take a toll on a person's vocabulary, especially when it comes to talking about your "baby boy" or your "brown boots." You can exhaust that consonant, so I've found it very difficult to maintain my other consonants working with the two of them … especially when they're working on the same day!

love him, really, but he's just ODD.

yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me!

so anyways. i dont wanna bore youse all with stories of stuff that happened, except to say that mum was right, the last month has gone so quickly that i cant believe it happened, nor can i come to grips with the fact that its all over. sigh.

...and thusly, i am back from my holiday of 'real life' and into the vicarious existence once more.

surprisingly, i am not jetlagged. although, it did take a few days for my sister to fall down after getting back from m'sia, so maybe i wont feel the *pain* until sometime next week.

and, dammit. my 3 dvd players are not multiregion, so i had to convince my sis to let me change the region on this computer. will it stay like this forever? remain astounded at my lack of computer know-how.
but the special features on the princess bride dvd are so totally awesome. and seeing all the stars - cary, mandy, robin, billy, the 2 christophers and little fred savage all growed up is so mad. im gonna watch it over and over again until i can recite the director's commentary off by heart.

im sorry if there is a lack of vicarious-ness and amazingly witty commentary, but i have been in a pop-culture vortex for the last 4 weeks. i know not of what has happened in the collective world, or sport or tv or anything. although i caught the alito hearings on cnn in the states and that was amusing as hell. the woman sitting just behind alito and to his left had amazing new costume changes everyday to keep us interested if the questions got boring or obscure. well more boring and obscure than normal.

mr trump was my hero in new york. 2 words: public toilets. okay, 3 words: free. public. toilets.
trump towers had basically the only ones in the city besides the ones at rockerfeller icerink, which were closed, and our hotel, which we didnt wanna hang around cos that wouldnt have made much sense, would it? so kudos to the man who fires ppl, for having toilets that maybe wouldnt have won a UK 'loo award', but were still good enough for us aussies busting to go.

i believe this one was from the loo inside the tower of london. now that was pretty cool. anita and i were mightily impressed by the weapons. and henry VIII's suit of armour (which was very large cos he was one big dude), and i had a hearty squee over the fortifications. mmmm.... double layered fortifications. and crenellations. and siege defenses. sigh. battlements and moats. and drawbridges and portcullises. i miss london already.

oh - one thing i gotta say. we touched johnny depp's jack sparrow bandanna. and the guy at the comic store had my hat. was much cool.

okays. too many ppl staring over my shoulder (this is what happens when you have two computers in the same room).

"remember when ulla dance? ulla dance again!!"

so im back.
hooray! and i mean that as un-sarcastically as possible for mels.

lotsa stories to tell, which will prolly take the next year or so. but most of the major highlights are in my half-arsed 'travel diary', which ive thown on the floor of my clean, clean room. so i shant forget.
well i wont forget some of the seriously traumatic things anyways. like breaking buses, or giancarlo, or moulin rouge, or the producers, or vegas or the passport incident that im never speaking of again. adam said 'well at least now you have an interesting story'. id gladly give it up thanks.

joho let me down again with her lack of dvds. sigh. but i got nightmare, and princess bride special edition, and all my bday miyazakis, and ferris bueller (which i bought cos caz is always going on about it, and it was in the cheap bin at tennessee wal-mart).

uni enrolment suxor. thats all im saying right now. if i think about it for too long it makes me want to cry.
united airlines also suxor. excessive, repetitive paperwork gives me the shits.
also. if at all possible, i would suggest that none of youse ever consider taking a 14 hr flight to anywhere in economy. ouch. and ouch. and the poor guy next to me who was about twice my height had his knees so far up that he had issues with the tray table coming down.
aussie accents rule my world. as everyone in the states would say, it is 'awesome' (with the us accent).

dug up all my souvenirs. gave joho the juicy tubes, and dad the shirt, and mum the macys bag (they all got enough other stuff at m'sia, so i dont feel guilty). and i have 2 words for you: cheap. converse. oh hell yeah. joho also got 2 pairs from m'sia, and she is apparently the same size as me, so we are chuck taylored up to our eyeballs here. and all different styles and colours, so no one is hitting anyone else over the head.

movies i missed/ still wanna see:
the producers
nanny mcphee
chicken little
brokeback
narnia
munich (agh! much squeeing to be had)
kiss kiss bang bang
underworld no.2

so much to do and so little time to see it! wait. switch that. no, that still doesnt make sense.

not jetlagged yet, but i will be!

ps. starbucks is crappy.
